Madrasatus-Sawlehaat, Asherville, Durban

Madrasatus Sawlehaat was established wth the Benevolence and Grace of Allah Ta'ala. The Madrasah is nestled in the little suburb of Asherville in Durban. Allah Ta'ala. The Truth, The Perfectly Wise, The All Powerful, chose a church to be converted into an Institution where "Tauheed" (His oneness) is expounded, His beautiful and Perfect deen, taught and explained, and His Zikr (rememberance) established. All Praise is due to Allah Ta'ala who vanquishes falsehod with truth.

In 1982, realising the need for girls to have a formal course whereby they are taught the teachings of Islam, and where they may be moulded into ideal Muslimahs, teachers and flagbearers of Islam, Hazrat Maulana Yunus Patel Saheb decided to establish the Madrasah. It was the first girls Madrasah to be founded in South Africa where the necessary level of secular together with the maximum amount of Islamic studies was given to girls from standard 5 to matric level on a fulltime basis, almost free, Alhamdulillah.

Our aim and objective was and is to draw more of our young girls to an environment of Deen, with the focus and application being Deen. We wished to offer the best kind of Islamic environment, providing them with sufficient knowledge to see them through their lives, as well as offering a protection from the various negative and undesirable elements and evils which have become even more common to most of our schools, colleges and other tertiary institutions.

Alhamdulillah, more tha 20 years have passed, and hundreds of students have completed their respective courses here and these students, have taken their knowledge to various parts of South Africa and beyond its borders, abroad, benefitting so many more from the Ummah of Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam).
